Tsum Valley with Manaslu Circuit Trek is a long trekking journey in the Manaslu region of Nepal. Manaslu region of Nepal is one of the best trekking routes for remote area trekking. Likewise, Tsum valley is a beautiful village which is also a part of the Manaslu Region of Nepal. Mount Manaslu, the eighth highest mountain of the world is one of the hidden gems of Nepal. It has been few years’ people have started trekking in this region and has absolutely loved what this region has to produce. Similarly, it has only been a few decades since the doors to the Tsum valley has been opened. With authentic culture, lush vegetation, magnificent Himalayas and stunning landscape of Tsum valley and Manaslu region will steal your heart. Even though the trail has been opened for a few years, it has gained a love of many travellers but with difficult terrain and geographical structure, it is quite difficult to reach the place. Tsum Valley Manaslu is a visually pleasing journey but with very less development you can expect to see the pure beauty of the place.

The journey is delightful, as trail trek entails walking along the Nepal-Tibet border enjoying the traditional charming settlements and artistic monasteries built in those serene and quaint environments.  As much as culturally and scenically beautiful the Manaslu region is, it is at the same time very rich in natural vegetation too. The dense forest shelters animals like Blue Sheep, Himalayan tahr and many more. Also, while your trails take you along the MachhaKhola, SotiKhola and Budi Gandaki River, you will all the time accompanied by the amazing view of mountains like Mt. Today, after breakfast, you will take a day tour of UNESCO listed world heritage sites of Kathmandu valley.

Drive to MachhaKhola (8-9 hours)

Today, after breakfast, you will drive to MachhaKhola from Kathmandu. The drive till Dhading is paved road and after that you will drive on the uneven off the beaten path to MachhaKhola.

MachhaKhola to Jagat (5-6 hours)

Today, after breakfast, you will cross MachhaKhola and Khorlabesi. Then we will pass through Tatopani which literally means hot water, a natural hot spring. You have a choice to stop by and enjoy an hour or half hour to take a tip in the hot spring or you can continue your journey. The trail will take you along the forested area until you cross DovanKhola and from there continue the hike to Budi Gandaki valley. While walking you will get witness drastic change in the views as the elevation increases. Eventually we reach Jagat. Overnight at Jagat in a teahouse.

Trek to Chisapani (5445m, 4-5 hrs)

Today after breakfast, you will continue your journey towards Chisapani. The journey today is short. In Jagat, you will check your permit card. At the beginning of today’s journey, you will hike up over a rocky ridge to Salleri and hike down to Sirdibas. The valley will broaden as the trail lingers up to GhattaKhola. Then you will cross the suspension bridge and ascend up to Philim. Philim is a beautiful village which is mostly inhabited by Gurung. You will leave behind Philim and walk through the forest and finally reach Chisapani. Overnight at Chisapani in a tea house.

Trek to Chumling (2386m, 6-7 hours)

Today after breakfast, we will leave Chisapani behind and continue our journey to Chumling. In the beginning, you will cross a massive gorge and after a little walk, you will come across an amazing waterfall. You will walk through pine and rhododendron forest and the trail leads to Tsum Valley. After walking furthermore, you will reach a small beautiful village Lokpa and from the village descend down for about half an hour uptoLungwaKhola and then climb on a crisscross trail. Eventually, we reach Gumlung and cross SiyarKhola and we finally reach Chumling. Chumling is the lower Tsum valley. Overnight at Chumling in a teahouse.

Trek to Chokhangparo (3010m, 4-5 hours)

Today after breakfast, you will continue your journey to Chokhangparo. The trail is scenic as you will come across a breathtaking view of Ganesh Himal, walk through fields of maize and potato. After walking through landslip areas, you will reach perched village of Ripchet and pass through Rainjam and cross SerpuKhola and finally, we come close to upper Tsum. At the end of the day, you will reach Chokhangparo with stone houses with a few iron roofs nestled under cliffs. It consists of two settlement, Chokhang and Paro. Overnight at Chokhangparo in a teahouse.

Trek to Nile (3361m, 5-6 hours)

Today after breakfast, you will continue your journey to the Nile. While ascending from Chokhangparo, you might get symptoms of altitude sickness. Listen to the guide, drink plenty of water and stay hydrated. Continuing the journey you will pass through many local schools and villages with an amazing view of the mountains and in the company of calm nature. We climb over a ridge of Chortens, we walk pass Lama gaon through flat fields looking over the widespread courtyard of RachenGompa/Nunnery Gompa. If lucky you might get a chance to see Himalayan Tahr. We also pass through ShiyarKhola, pass through villages ofPhurbe and Pangdun. We pass through Chule where you will historic stupa of Budhha. While walking through upstream to cross the bridge and climb to the Nile. Overnight at the Nile in a teahouse.

Today after breakfast, we will leave Chumling behind and head towards Deng. After the Nile, we completely left the Tsum valley part and enter Deng in the Manaslu region. Overnight at Deng in a teahouse.

Trek to Namrung (2900m, 5 hours)

Today after breakfast, you will head towards Namrung. We ascend up to the steep hill and descend down to cross the river. On the trail, you will pass through some of the small settlements and come across the stunning valley. Further walking, you will see many Mani stones carved onto rocks, prayer flags, chorten and gumbas. After walking a few more hours along the Tibetan border, you will make few ups and downs and finally reach Namrung. Overnight at Namrung in a teahouse.

Today after breakfast, we will head towards SamaGaon. On the trail, we pass through Mani stones wall with a stunning view of peak 29. You can also get a clear and closer view of Mount Manaslu with a side trip to Pungen. The trail will take you through the lateral moraine of Pungen towards Sama. Overnight in Sama Gompa.

Acclimatization day at SamaGaon

Today is rest day. Or in other word acclimatization day to get your body used to the altitude. This is an important day therefore no one should skip this day. For little exercise, you may walk up to Manaslu Base Camp or walk across Birendra Tal. Both the place are stunningly beautiful. Overnight at SamaGompa.

Trek to Samdo (3690m, 3 hours)

Today after breakfast, you will head towards Samdo. This is a short walk. Samdo is a beautiful valley which comes after crossing pastures and with a gradual ascend. Along the journey, you will witness magnificent view of Manaslu. Oday you will come across a Tibetan refugee village as well. By afternoon you will Samdo and explore the surrounding areas. Overnight at Samdo in a teahouse.

Trek to Bhimpedi (3590m, 8 hours)

Today after breakfast you will continue your journey towards Bhimpedi. Prepare yourself for a long walk. You will hike up to Cho Chanda and then slowly towards a pass mostly covered in snow. From the top of the pass, you will get a panoramic view of HimlungHimal, Cheo Himal, Gyagi Kung, Kang Guru and Annapurna II. Then you will walk through moraines and finally reach Bhimpedi. Overnight at Bhimpedi in a teahouse.

Trek to Tilje (2300m, 5 hours)

Today after breakfast, you will leave Bhimpedi and head towards Tilje. The journey includes walking through paddy fields. After some time you will reach a small Karcha La pass. The trail then onwards descend to fig trees and rhododendron forest and finally reach Tilje. Overnight at Tilje in a teahouse.

Trek to Dharapani (2 hours) and drive to Kathmandu (8-9 hours)

Today after breakfast you will hike down to Dharapani. The walk to Dharapani is short. In Dharapani, you will take a bus to Kathmandu or take a private jeep to Dhading and then take a bus to Kathmandu. Overnight at Hotel in Kathmandu.
